בר שבע שנין יהואש כד מלך:
mlk kd yhwash shnyn shbe br
Jehoash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

בשנת שבע ליהוא מלך יהואש וארבעין שנין מלך בירושלם ושום אימה צביה מבאר שבע:
shbe mbar tsbyh aymh wshwm byrwshlm mlk shnyn warbeyn yhwash mlk lyhwa shbe bshnth
Jehoash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

ועבד יהואש דכשר קדם יי כל יומוהי כמא דאלפיה יהוידע כהנא:
khna yhwyde dalpyh kma ywmwhy kl yy qdm dkshr yhwash webd
However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.

לחוד במתא לא עטרא עד כען עמא מדבחין ומסקין בוסמין על במתא:
bmtha el bwsmyn wmsqyn mdbkhyn ema ken ed eTra la bmtha lkhwd
Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,

ואמר יהואש לכהניא כל כסף קודשיא דמתעל לבית מקדשא דיי כסף תקליא דעבר על מנין גבריא כסף פורקן נפשתא דמתן גבר פורקן נפשיה אף כל כסף דמתנדב גבר בלביה לאיתאה לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth laythah blbyh gbr dmthndb ksp kl ap npshyh pwrqn gbr dmthn npshtha pwrqn ksp gbrya mnyn el debr thqlya ksp dyy mqdsha lbyth dmthel qwdshya ksp kl lkhnya yhwash wamr
let the priests take it to them, each man from his donor; and they shall repair the damage to the house, wherever any damage is found.”

יסבון להון כהניא גבר מן מכריה ואינון יתקפון ית בדקא דביתא לכל אתר די ישתכח תמן בדקא:
bdqa thmn yshthkkh dy athr lkl dbytha bdqa yth ythqpwn waynwn mkryh mn gbr khnya lhwn ysbwn
But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damage to the house.

והוה בשנת עסרין ותלת שנין למלכא יהואש לא תקיפו כהניא ית בדקא דביתא:
dbytha bdqa yth khnya thqypw la yhwash lmlka shnyn wthlth esryn bshnth whwh
Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “Why aren’t you repairing the damage to the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for repair of the damage to the house.”

וקרא מלכא יהואש ליהוידע כהנא ולכהניא ואמר להון מא דין ליתכון מתקפין ית בדקא דביתא וכען לא תסבון כספא מן מכריכון ארי לבדקא דביתא תתנוניה:
ththnwnyh dbytha lbdqa ary mkrykwn mn kspa thsbwn la wken dbytha bdqa yth mthqpyn lythkwn dyn ma lhwn wamr wlkhnya khna lyhwyde yhwash mlka wqra
The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, and not repair the damage to the house.

ואיטפסו כהניא בדיל דלא למסב כספא מן עמא ובדיל דלא לתקפא ית בדקא דביתא:
dbytha bdqa yth lthqpa dla wbdyl ema mn kspa lmsb dla bdyl khnya wayTpsw
But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into Yahweh’s house; and the priests who kept the threshold put all the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house into it.

ונסיב יהוידע כהנא ארונא חד ונקב חורא בדשיה ויהב יתיה בסטר מדבחא מימינא במיעל גברא לבית מקדשא דיי ויהבון תמן כהניא אמרכליא ית כל כספא דמתעל לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth dmthel kspa kl yth amrklya khnya thmn wyhbwn dyy mqdsha lbyth gbra bmyel mymyna mdbkha bsTr ythyh wyhb bdshyh khwra wnqb khd arwna khna yhwyde wnsyb
When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.

והוה כד חזו ארי סגי כספא בארונא וסליק ספרא דמלכא וכהנא רבא וצרו ומנו ית כספא דאשתכח בית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha byth dashthkkh kspa yth wmnw wtsrw rba wkhna dmlka spra wslyq barwna kspa sgy ary khzw kd whwh
They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on Yahweh’s house,

ויהבין ית כספא דמטקס על ידי עבדי עבידא די ממנן על בית מקדשא דיי ומפקין לנגרי אעיא ולארדיכליא דעבדין בית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha byth debdyn wlardyklya aeya lngry wmpqyn dyy mqdsha byth el mmnn dy ebyda ebdy ydy el dmTqs kspa yth wyhbyn
and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the damage to Yahweh’s house, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

ולארגובליא ולפסלי אבניא ולמזבן אעין ואבנין פסילן לתקפא ית בדקא בית מקדשא דיי ולכל דיפוק על ביתא לתקפותיה:
lthqpwthyh bytha el dypwq wlkl dyy mqdsha byth bdqa yth lthqpa psyln wabnyn aeyn wlmzbn abnya wlpsly wlargwblya
But there were not made for Yahweh’s house cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house;

ברם לא מתעביד בית מקדשא דיי קולין דכסף מזמריא ומני מזרקיא חצוצרתא כל מאני דהבא ומאני כספא מן כספא דמתעל לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth dmthel kspa mn kspa wmany dhba many kl khtswtsrtha mzrqya wmny mzmrya dksp qwlyn dyy mqdsha byth mthebyd la brm
for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired Yahweh’s house with it.

ארי לעבדי עבידתא יהבין ליה ומתקפין ביה ית בית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha byth yth byh wmthqpyn lyh yhbyn ebydtha lebdy ary
Moreover they didn’t demand an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to give to those who did the work; for they dealt faithfully.

ולא מחשבין עם גבריא די יהבין ית כספא על ידיהון למתן לעבדי עבידתא ארי בהימנותא אינון עבדין:
ebdyn aynwn bhymnwtha ary ebydtha lebdy lmthn ydyhwn el kspa yth yhbyn dy gbrya em mkhshbyn wla
The money for the trespass offerings and the money for the sin offerings was not brought into Yahweh’s house. It was the priests’.

כסף אשמא וכסף חטותא לא מתעל לבית מקדשא דיי לכהניא יהבין ליה:
lyh yhbyn lkhnya dyy mqdsha lbyth mthel la khTwtha wksp ashma ksp
Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

בכן סליק חזאל מלכא דארם ואגיח קרבא על גת וכבשה ושוי חזאל אפוהי למיסק לירושלם:
lyrwshlm lmysq apwhy khzal wshwy wkbshh gth el qrba wagykh darm mlka khzal slyq bkn
Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.

ונסב יהואש מלך שבטא דבית יהודה ית כל קודשיא די אקדישו יהושפט ויהורם ואחזיהו אבהתוהי מלכיא דבית יהודה וית קודשוהי וית כל דהבא דאשתכח באוצרי בית מקדשא דיי ובית גנזי מלכא ושדר לחזאל מלכא דארם ואסתלק מעל ירושלם:
yrwshlm mel wasthlq darm mlka lkhzal wshdr mlka gnzy wbyth dyy mqdsha byth bawtsry dashthkkh dhba kl wyth qwdshwhy wyth yhwdh dbyth mlkya abhthwhy wakhzyhw wyhwrm yhwshpT aqdyshw dy qwdshya kl yth yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk yhwash wnsb
Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

ושאר פתגמי יואש וכל דעבד הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומיא למלכי דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth lmlky ywmya pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla debd wkl ywash pthgmy wshar
His servants arose and made a conspiracy, and struck Joash at the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.

וקמו עבדוהי ומרדו מירדא ומחו ית יואש בית מלו דנחת לסלא:
lsla dnkhth mlw byth ywash yth wmkhw myrda wmrdw ebdwhy wqmw
For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in David’s city; and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
